The Madonna and Child

The Madonna and Child painting was one of the most common subjects for paintings in the Renaissance. It appealed to both private and public patrons and allowed for both overt religious and personal themes. I recently gave a lecture on the idea of Madonna and Child images discussing different interpretations and artistic styles that emerged within Renaissance paintings of the Madonna and Child. I hope you enjoy the lecture and please comment with your favorite Madonna and Child painting other related representation. – Taylor
